Clay County Retired Teachers Association is asking that our retired teachers write to our Area 4 Legislators. Please be polite in reminding them that we have received no COLA for eight years and have lost 17% of purchasing power in those eight years. A COLA will not create a big increase in the Unfunded Liability.
Also our money goes right back into the community therefore helping our economy.
When writing to them there are some things to consider.
1. The address should begin with “The Honorable______"
2. The greeting should begin with Dear Representative_____: or Dear Senator______:
3. Always be professional and polite.
4. We begin with thanking them for past COLA’s or 13th checks.
5. We note the above points that are important.

Tracking Legislation Online
Here’s how to do it:
• Go to www.in.gov/legislative
• On the index at the left of the main Indiana General Assembly page, click the “Bills and Resolutions” button. That link opens a drop-down menu. Click on “Overview”.
• From the “Overview” page, enter the number of the bill you want to track into the “Go to Bill” field and click the “Go” button.
• You also can track or obtain information about bills by entering keywords in the “Keyword Search” field and clicking the “Search” button.
There are other features available via links on the “Overview” page. Familiarize yourself with all of them.
